WW1 army-issue canvas bucket of type used by NZ Mounted Rifles (NZMR) canvas bucket; rope carrying handle attached to two heavy canvas loops machined to each side of the bucket; rope threaded through stitched sleeve on top edge of bucket reinforces edge and steadies bucket when full of water; reinforced seam on base of bucket. materials- canvas, rope handle dimensions- 230mm deep not including handles; 390mm wide at top maker- Thomas Briggs (London) Ltd markings- maker ID and date ink-stamped on inside of bucket - “THOMAS BRIGGS - (LONDON) LTD - MAKERS - 191(6)”; broad arrow ink-stamped on inside of bucket
