Balkans Rail Trip, Autumn 2013 - Day Three

One of the last few surviving 2-car DMUs built by Djuro Djakovic (under licence of Macosa in Spain) is seen at Vrbas on 25 September 2013. Set no. 712.207 is ready to work train 6452, 09:04 Vrbas to Sombor. These units are based at a small depot at Sombor which is likely to close down with rationalisation of rolling stock and being replaced by class 711 sets. However the decision has been made to concentrate the new sets at Subotica for this area.

The class 712s are in very poor condition and not looked after well - seen here with large amounts of graffiti. Internally the seats are very basic plastic moulded and are prone to frequent breakdowns.
