Schlacht um Moskau

Die Schlacht um Moskau war eine Schlacht an der deutsch-sowjetischen Front im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Ziel der Operation war die Einnahme der sowjetischen Hauptstadt Moskau. Die Kämpfe begannen am 2. Oktober 1941 mit der Wiederaufnahme der Offensive der Heeresgruppe Mitte gegen die West-, Reserve- und Brjansker Front in der Doppelschlacht bei Wjasma und Brjansk. Nachdem der Vorstoß bis zum 30. Oktober 1941 auf Grund des herbstlichen Schlamms und des starken sowjetischen Widerstands ins Stocken geraten war, konnte die Offensive rund zwei Wochen später fortgesetzt werden. Die zweite Offensive scheiterte jedoch, nachdem am 5. Dezember 1941 die Rote Armee eine großangelegte Gegenoffensive unternahm, die zu einem Rückzugsbefehl von Hitler am 15. Januar 1942 führte. In der Moskauer Angriffsoperation stieß die Rote Armee auf einer etwa 1000 km breiten Front bis zu 250 km nach Westen vor.
