Zdeněk Mančal (* October 9, 1913 Litomyšl - August 5, 1975 Prague) was a Czechoslovak Radio announcer who on May 5, 1945, with the words It is just six o'clock, launched the Prague May Uprising of 1945. From 20 February 1948 he was banned from his workplace at Czechoslovak Radio and after February 1948 he was dismissed from the radio (on the basis of his testimony of 30 March 1948) by the totalitarian communist regime. In May 1949, he was arrested by the state security and sentenced to 10 years in prison for treason, which he served in Plzeň, Bory, and forced labour in the uranium mines in the Jáchymov region. After returning from serving his sentence, Mančal worked as a concrete worker.
