Von Toll Family Herarldry
The description underneath says: --- "In 1544, Lucas von Toll, who has from Wittenberg, was admitted to the university of the same same. In 1560, he served as a secretary of the Kuressaare administrative unit and he had a manor in Saaremaa as well. The common forefather of the Tolls is the freeman Hans Toll, who in 1574 owned about 10 hectares of land. He is also considered the descendant of Suur Tõll, a mythical hero from Saaremaa. In 1711, the Tolls became officially registered among the nobility on Saaremaa, followed by Estonia in 1746 and Livonia in 1747. By that time they had their family coat of arms: a shild with a lion on the right side and a blue wavy stripe on the left. /From Tiit Saar's book, 'Heraldry of Estonian manor families'/ The original copy is housed at the Dome Church in Tallinn." ---
(Note: The lion and the stripe are in different order on the coat of arms than what is the description.)Relevante Bilder
