Königsgräber von Ur

Der Königsfriedhof von Ur, manchmal auch Königsgräber von Ur, ist ein in Tell el-Muqejjir gefundenes frühdynastisches Gräberfeld, in welchem neben einer Vielzahl von Privatpersonen auch Eliteangehörige bestattet wurden, darunter vermutlich mehrere Könige der 1. Dynastie von Ur. Die dortigen Grabanlagen wurden von 1926 bis 1934 durch Charles Leonard Woolley ausgegraben, wobei er auf einige besonders reich ausgestattete Bestattungen traf. Sie zählen bis heute zu den bedeutendsten Befunden aus Mesopotamien. Die Funde befinden sich im Iraq-Museum, British Museum und University Museum Philadelphia. .. weiterlesen
