Atlantic Ocean (Dec. 5, 2004) - An EA-6B Prowler, assigned to the “Scorpions” of Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Two (VAQ-132), soars through the sky above the Atlantic Ocean during routine flight operations from the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). The EA-6B is a twin engine, mid-wing aircraft that is designed for carrier based operations to provide an umbrella of protection for strike aircraft by jamming enemy radar, electronic data links and communications. Kennedy and embarked Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) are transiting the Atlantic Ocean as they make their return from a scheduled deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Grumman EA-6
Die Grumman EA-6B Prowler war ein trägergestütztes Kampfflugzeug zur elektronischen Kriegsführung des Herstellers Northrop Grumman. Es handelte sich dabei um eine Abwandlung der A-6 „Intruder“. Nach Außerdienststellung 2015 durch die US Navy standen Prowlers zuletzt nur noch in Diensten des United States Marine Corps, wo sie bis März 2019 auf der Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point stationiert war.
