Lyman, Wash. (Sept. 23, 2003) -- Lt. Nick Vande Griend, assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Nine (VAQ-139), simulates a survivor of an ejection scenario. Lt. Vande Griend "pops a smoke" and uses his radio to communicate with a Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter.
