Beschreibung:
Twthill This is the site of the first castle in Rhuddlan, which was a motte and bailey castle raised by Robert of Rhuddlan in 1073. According to the Domesday book (1086), William the Conqueror granted him power over the whole of north Wales beyond the Clwyd for an annual rent of £40.
On top of this mound, the "motte", there would have been a wooden stockade and tower.
