Harveian OrationDie Harveian Oration ist eine seit 1656 jährlich stattfindende Rede vor der englischen Ärztekammer Royal College of Physicians (RCP) of London. Die Harveian Orations sind die bekannteste nach William Harvey benannte Vortragsreihe in der britischen Medizin. Harvey hatte dem RCP sein väterliches Erbe gestiftet, ein Anwesen in Burmarsh in Essex. In der Stiftungsurkunde vom 26. Juni 1656 verfügt er, dass einmal jährlich im Andenken an den Stifter eine Rede in lateinischer Sprache vor dem RCP gehalten werden müsse. Dem Redner solle eine Entlohnung von 5 Pfund gezahlt werden, eine Zahlung die erst 1939 auf 10 Guinees erhöht wurde. .. weiterlesen
