The River Loddon, Stratfield Saye. The lawns of the house here descend to the river. The tall trees to the extreme left are the Wellingtonias seen here 1423022. These were named in honour of the first Duke of Wellington and were introduced to this country in 1853, a year after his death. The estate was given to the Duke by the nation following his victory at Waterloo.
