Image Title: The Lonely Convent of Mar Saba, Wilderness of Judea

Image Description from historic lecture booklet: "Mar Saba is situated in the wilderness about midway between Bethlehem and the shore of the Dead Sea. It can be reached by paths from Bethlehem or Jerusalem on the west or from the Dead Sea on the east.

The buildings are clinging at the barren rocks and precipitous cliffs like a wasp's nest, and from its walls one could drop a stone almost a thousand feet into the somber depths of a chasm."
