Suai ist die Hauptstadt der osttimoresischen Gemeinde Cova Lima. Der Name leitet sich von den Tetum-Wörtern „su rai henek“ ab, su für „graben“, rai für „Erde“ oder „Land“, henek für „Kies“. „Rai henek“ bedeutet „Sand“. Für den Häuserbau wurde Sand abgebaut.
