Stixwould Station on the Water Rail Way
The station was nearly 2 miles from the village. The former signal box has been adapted to become a conservatory with a fine west-facing aspect. The name board is original, but has been re-sited. The Water Rail Way gets its name from the combination of the railway, the waterway (River Witham) and the Water Rail, a marshland bird found in the region. The Way is part of the Sustrans network and was still being improved at this point when the picture was taken.
