Three masted sailing ship H.M.S. Galatea, ca. 1868 Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh was a naval officer and the H.M.S. Galatea was his first command. The Galatea was in Australian waters from October 1867 till June 1868 while the Duke completed the first royal tour of Australia. During this time he visted Brisbane for a week.
