The magnificent Abbey Church in Sherborne, Dorset, famous for its fan vaulting.

The Abbey dominates the small town, and even on gloomy days, it looks fantastic!

The Central Tower is famous for its huge peal of 8 bells, the heaviest in the world. The Tenor weighs 46-0-5 or just over 2.25 tonnes!

From 705 to 1075, it was a Saxon Cathedral, hence the reason why it still has a bishop.

From 1075 to 1539, a Benedictine Abbey, and now a large Parish Church.

It is one of only two Abbeys in England, the other being Buckfast, to be both a working Abbey and a Parish Church.
