RFA Sir Tristram (L3505) (28685493662)
Round Table class landing ship previously in Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary service. Built by Hawthorne Leslie in Tynbeside, she was launched in December 1966 and commissioned with the Royal Navy in September 1967, being transferred to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in 1970. She is a landing ship logistics with a displacement of 6,407 tonnes, and a maximum speed of 16 knots. She saw initial action as part of an Anti-Invasion task force for British Honduras in 1972, but became a household name during the 1982 Falklands War when, along with RFA Sir Galahad, she was heavily damaged by Argentine Air Force A-4 Skyhawks at Fitzroy Cove and was abandoned. She was returned to the UK by a heavy-lift ship in 1984. Rebuilt, she returned to service in 1985 and later saw service in the Gulf War (1990), Balkans (1990s) and finally during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. She was decommissioned in December 2005 but is now a training ship for the Special Boat Service (SBS) and UK Special Forces Group. She is seen at her permanent home in Portland, Dorset, UK.
