Das Niederliegende Fingerkraut gehört zur Pflanzengattung Fingerkräuter (Potentilla) innerhalb der Familie Rosengewächse (Rosaceae). Sie ist im engeren Sinne (s. str.) eine artgewordene Hybride der Blutwurz und des Kriechenden Fingerkrauts.
