Osservatorio Astronomico di Roma
Monte Mario is near the right bank of the river Tiber, in the municipality of Roma. The observatory was inaugurated in 1938. The main building is the old Villa Mellini: three domes were constructed atop the house, which was built originally during the 15th century for Cardinal Mario Mellini. Behind the observatory building, the solar tower from 1951 can be seen.
Although the building is no longer used as an active observatory, it is now the office of the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica.Relevante Bilder
