This photograph was taken by me in Harihar, Davangere district, Karnataka state, India. The Harihareshwara Temple at Harihar in was built in c.1223–1224 CE by Polalva, a commander and minister of the Hoysala Empire King Vira Narasimha II. The inscription dated 1171 is assigned to Vijaya Pandyadeva, a Hoysala vassal, and the inscription to the right is a bilingual Kannada-Sanskrit inscription and is assigned to King Vira Narasimha II and army commander Polalva.
