North Eastern Railway (NER) Brake Van No. 1841. Brake van according to drawing 18 with bogies, baggage compartment and three third-class compartments. Clerestory roof. Built in 1895. 52 feet long. Westinghouse air brake. Inside operable uncoupling device to uncouple the car while the train is moving, to use it as a slip car. The guard could watch the track through the windows in the front wall while operating the brake of the slip car.
