Part of a lager 1890 map of East Africa, showing the designation "Mrima" on the strip between Dar es Salaam and Rufiji River; this is only the southern part of what was at that time described as Mrima, where it would either be the area from Southern Kenya (Vanga) to the Pangani River, or from Vanga down to Kilwa.
