Mission Operation Control Room 2, Johnson Space Center. 20-3-2017 (38888558160)
First operational in June 1965, MOCR-2 is most famous for its use during both the Apollo 11 moon landing and Apollo 13 crisis (as in “Houston – We have a problem”). It actually served as Flight Operations / Mission Control for a total of nine Gemini missions and eleven Apollo missions. Renamed as Flight Control Room 2 (FCR-2) it went on to support twenty two Space Shuttle missions between 1982 and 1992. It was then decommissioned. It has now been classed as a National Historic Landmark and has been restored to the exact condition it was in during the July 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. The original equipment had long been replaced, but the originals were all found in a nearby storeroom and were returned to their original locations in the room.
