Lews Castle Commissioned by Sir James Matheson in 1847, Lews Castle cost £60,000 to build and took 7 years to complete. It sits on the west side of Stornoway harbour, opposite the town, and there are plans to refurbish the building and turn it into a hotel and conference centre.
