Kawasan Hutan TN Betung Kerihun
Betung Kerihun National Park itself is dominated by the dense forests of Kalimantan which has an area - / + 816,000 ha and where there are also a lot of potential biodiversity. In addition to the World Wide Fund for Nature to protect the Kalimantan forest area of 220,000 km², the Governments of Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia signed an agreement in Bali on February 12, 2007 to support initiatives to make this region a part of the Heart of Borneo.
This area is home to 10 endemic primate species, more than 350 bird species, 150 reptile and amphibian species, and 10,000 plant species. From 2007 to 2010, a total of 123 new species were discovered in this region. A 2012 status report found that the lowland rainforests of Kalimantan were increasingly damaged and threatened.Relevante Bilder
