Highbridge Station, with Diesel-hauled Down 'Devonian' express.
View northward, towards Bristol; ex-GWR Bristol - Exeter main line. The 'Devonian' (09.05 Bradford - Paignton), the principal North - West of England all-year express, has by 1962 gone over to Diesel-haulage, here with Type 3 1,700hp Diesel-hydraulic B-B No. D7006. Highbridge (Somerset & Dorset) Station was just behind to the right and the S&D single line on to Burnham-on-Sea (closed a few weeks later, on 9/9/62) crossed on the level - under the third coach of the express. (Note the importance of services offered to 'Gentlemen' at Highbridge!).
