Governors Island ist eine rund 70 Hektar große Insel in der Upper New York Bay in New York City im US-Bundesstaat New York und gehört zum Borough Manhattan. Die Insel liegt etwa 730 m vor der Südspitze Manhattans und etwa 400 m westlich vom Stadtteil Red Hook in Brooklyn, hier getrennt vom sogenannten Buttermilk Channel.
