Diagram of the cycle of gold in California. Gold went up in the oceanic crust, in particular by submarine volcanos. The crust going towards the North-American continent by the phenomena of plate tectonics and subduction. It is then pushed in the chain of the Sierra Nevada. At last, by erosion, it is found in the rivers going down from the mountains.
