Pagode

Eine Pagode ist ein markantes, mehrgeschossiges, turmartiges Bauwerk, dessen einzelne Geschosse meist durch vorragende Gesimse oder Dachvorsprünge voneinander getrennt sind. Gebäude dieser Art sind in Vietnam, China, Nepal, Myanmar, Kambodscha, Japan und Korea zu finden. Die Herkunft des Wortes Pagode ist nicht sicher geklärt. Entsprechende Bauwerke wurden im antiken Indien auf Sanskrit als स्तूप (stūpa) bezeichnet, in Pali heißen sie thupa. Die chinesische Bezeichnung Ta stammt ursprünglich aus dem Pali. .. weiterlesen
