Photograph of Forte de Santo António de Simbor (also known as Fortim-do-Mar, Forte Pani-Cola). This fort was built in 1722 by the Portuguese on an islet at the mouth of a river in the bay of Simbor, some 25 km east of Diu, India. This fort is often confused with

the better-known fort, also called Fortim-do-Mar or Pani-Kota, just off Diu Fort

The photo is not dated but was taken very likely at the turn of the 20th century. The very small original photo has been enlarged. Old photos of this remote and little-known fort are rare.
