Former shipyard in Port Glasgow. Scott Lithgow's Glen yard used to produce supertankers weighing over a hundred thousand tons on this site. The ships were built in two sections (bow and stern) and then joined together in a nearby dock. The A8 in the foreground is being rerouted along the riverside as part of a retail and housing development currently under way on this site. Helensburgh and the Ardmore Peninsula can be seen across the River Clyde. This photo was taken from a moving train.
