An illustration (p.88) from ‘A voyage of Discovery in His Majesty’s Ships Isabella and Alexander for the purpose of Baffins Bay and enquiring into the probability of a N W Passage’ by John Ross. In the foreground on the right are two admirals attempting to communicate with the indigenous people of Prince Regents Bay; the latter, likely Inuits, are accompanied by sleighs pulled by wolves. In the mid-ground on the left are two ships depicted in starboard quarter view; Isabella is shown at right, anchored to the land, and the Alexander shown on her left. A ship’s boat can be seen on land beside a figure. Two smaller Inuits are in the distance nearby. A mountainous landscape dominates the background. Some damage on the image, probably fragments of an overlapping text page adhering to the surface.
