This photgraphic image is from the Ernest Hemingway Photograph Collection at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum (JFK Library). This image was originally created and/or owned by Ernest Hemingway and/or his wife Mary Hemingway. After Ernest Hemingway's death, his widow Mary donated many of his papers, photographs and other items to the JFK Library, and transferred the copyright for images she owned to the JFK Library. The JFK Library is part of the National Archives, an agency of the United States Federal Government, and has released the photos into the public domain. This photo is marked "Public Domain" on its web page at the JFK Library. Please be aware that the JFK Library also owns and displays photographs of Hemingway on its website which are either copyrighted by their creator or are of unknown copyright status, and this copyright tag should not be used on those files.

Hemingway beschreibt darin großteils sein Leben zwischen 1921 und 1926 in Paris. Im Vorwort lässt er offen, wie fiktional die kurzen Geschichten sind. Die Erinnerungen sind chronologisch geordnet und bauen zum Teil aufeinander auf. Das Buch entstand zwischen 1957 und 1960, kurz vor Hemingways Tod. In der vorletzten Erzählung kündigt er „lange nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg“ gegenüber einem alten Pariser Bekannten an, diese Erinnerungen niederzuschreiben. .. weiterlesen
