The alleged effect of "menotoxin" on a cinerea flower, shown as Figure 6 in "A phyto-pharmacological study of menstrual toxin." by David I. Macht and Dorothy Lubin. The original description reads: "Figure 6 shows the marked effect of menotoxin on cinerea. In one case the flower was placed in a solution of normal blood serum in distilled water, while in the other the same concentration of menstrual blood serum in distilled water was employed; toxic effects were noticeable within a few hours."

Menotoxin, auch Menstruationsgift, ist die Bezeichnung eines hypothetischen Giftstoffs, der Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts im Schweiß und Blut von Frauen während der Menstruation vermutet wurde. Bis 1979 wurde über die Existenz von Menotoxin diskutiert. Nach heutigem Stand der Wissenschaft gibt es keinen Hinweis für die Existenz von Menotoxin.
