Dili, Portuguese Timor. A Chinese Chief Operator, Malay Assistant Operator and Qantas Station Superintendent D.D. Laurie, with newly installed radio equipment providing a civil aeradio channel between Dili and Darwin. In 1940 Dili became a fortnightly stop for Qantas flying boats travelling between Darwin and Singapore. Laurie was stationed in Dili between February and April 1941 and played a vital role in gathering intelligence on Japanese activities in Timor. February - April 1941
