Dartmoor

Dartmoor [ˈdɑːtmʊə(r)/-mɔː(r)] ist eine Hügellandschaft in der englischen Grafschaft Devon. Die vornehmlich Moor und Heide tragenden Verebnungsflächen des Granitmassivs werden von einer Vielzahl sogenannter Tors überragt, flachen Wiesenhügeln mit Granitfelsbildungen bis zu 10 Metern Höhe. Die höchste Erhebung im Dartmoor ist der 621 m hohe High Willhays oder High Willes. 954 km² der Landschaft sind als Dartmoor National Park ausgewiesen. Im Dartmoor finden sich zahlreiche Reste bronzezeitlicher Wohnstätten, Feldsysteme und Steinkreise.
