Carew Cross Protected by Cadw the historic environment service of the Welsh Assembly Government. The Cadw web site states, 'Magnificent eleventh-century decorated cross, probably commemorating Maredudd ap Edwin (d. 1035). This cross provides the inspiration for the symbol of Cadw'.
