Beschreibung:

Asheville City Hall (1928). It was designed as a "twin" building with the Buncombe County Courthouse. However, the governments of the city and the county couldn't agree on an architect. The city preferred the modern architecture of Douglas Ellington while the county wanted a classical revival building. During World War II, the building was leased to the Armed Forces, which made it its world headquarters for its Weather Wing and Communications Service Branch for the Air Force.
