Aoba-yama hills photographed from across the Hirose-gawa river. Some of the buildings contain the Kawauchi campus of Tohoku University. The city of Sendai, Japan is nested in the foothills of Aoba-yama. Also, the site of Sendai castle (aka Aoba castle) built in 1601 is in the hills.
