Beschreibung:

One of 300+ original drawings, many of which were rendered into woodcuts for Gessner's Historiae animalium and other works. The collection fell into the hands of his associate Felix Platter who collated them into "albums", adding annotations. The inscription here reads "Basiliscus vel.. coquatrix belua .. galli" (not wholly legible at this resolution)
