Note: this depiction should be considered unreliable or inaccurate. See the English Wikipedia talk page for the 3rd Panzer Division for details. This configuration is found in Theodor Hartmann's Wehrmacht Divisional Signs (London: Almark Publishing Co., 1970), without citing any source.

The use of the "life rune" (Algiz) as variant emblem of the 4th Panzer division is documented for 1940 and 1943–1945 (c.f. 4th Panzer Division (1943-1945).svg). The image shown here would represent the "death rune" (inverted Algiz). Such an emblem is not attested, and its use in Hartmann (1970) is best explained as an error.

The svg image should be renamed to something like "yellow peace sign" to avoid the ahistorical connotation.
