On September 20, 2022, a bilateral meeting was held between H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste Ms. Aldaljiza Magno and H.E. Ms. Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir, Minister of Foreign Affairs of IcelandThe two counterparts started by underlined the desire to strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries and the areas of cooperation since both countries established diplomatic relations in 2003. Minister Magno reiterated the appreciation for Iceland support on Timor-Leste’s candidacy for Human Rights Council for the term of 2024-2026. Regarding the bilateral cooperation, and Timor-Leste’s priority for the economic diversification, the Ministers underlined the possibility of increasing the bilateral cooperation, namely in the area of fisheries.
