Geneva, on 27th February 2022- H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Dra. Adaljiza Magno, had a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka H.E. G.L.Peiris.

The ministers began by first expressing their desire to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries, considering the historical relations of the two nations. Therefore, Her Excellency Minister Magno also informed about Timor-Leste's candidacy to the Human Rights Council for the period of 2024-2026. The two Minister also discussed and shared the importance of respecting human rights and State’s right to self-determination. During the meeting Minister Magno was accompanied by the Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, H.E. Lurdes Bessa, and Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Mr. Karlito Nunes, and Advisor of the Minister, Mrs. Natalia Sarmento.
