GM created Pontiac in 1926, sold beside the more expensive Oakland. The Oakland was dropped in 1933, the Pontiac continued to be sold until 2010 For 1957, the Bonneville was a high-performance, luxury convertible within the Star Chief line. The Bonneville became a separate model in 1958. From the 1959-60, the second generation, the Bonneville became the top of the line model with that unique Pontiac split grille look, then in 1960 back to a full width grille. Available in 1960 in 2 door Hardtop, Convertible and Custom 4 door Wagon. Also from 1959, the base model was now the Catalina (previously Pontiacs Hardtop model), available in 2 or 4 door Sedan, 2 or 4 door Hardtop, Convertible and 4 door Wagon Mid spec still the Star Chief, in 2 or 4 door Sedan and 4 door Hardtop Then the short lived, new for 1960, Ventura in 2 or 4 door Hardtop.
