The Model A, built from 1927-1931, replacing the Model T . The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals; throttle and gearshift. Previous Ford models used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model A's fuel tank was located in the cowl, between the engine compartment's fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge, and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. Available in a wide variety of body styles. Differences through the years; 1928; old style fluted headlight lenses, shaped bumper 1929; new style headlight lenses 1930; new shaped cowl, taller radiator, bumper now straight 1931; Stainless steel Ford logo on radiator (Blue in 1930), one piece splash apron above running boards (2 piece in 1930) By the time the Model A was released, Ford Australia had its own production lines and was pressing its own panels, 32387 Model As were built in Australia
