Woody Herman and His Orchestra

Woody Herman and His Orchestra war eine von Woody Herman geleitete Jazzband, die ihre großen Erfolge in der späten Swingära ab Ende der 1930er bis in die 1980er Jahre hatte. Nach den Anfängen als The Band That Play the Blues gehörten zu den Höhepunkten der Bandkarriere die First Herd, die 1945/46 auch Elemente des Bebop integrierte, und die Second Herd oder auch Four Brothers Band, die 1947 bis 1949 unter dem Einfluss des beginnenden Cool Jazz stand. In unterschiedlichen Besetzungen arbeitete Herman dann bis in die 1980er Jahre mit weiteren Big-Band-Projekten, integrierte verstärkt zeitgenössische Jazzelemente und trug damit wesentlich zur Weiterentwicklung des Bigband-Jazz bei. .. weiterlesen
