Zentralamerika- und Karibikspiele 1990
Die 16. Zentralamerika- und Karibikspiele fanden vom 20. November bis 4. Dezember 1990 in der mexikanischen Hauptstadt Mexiko-Stadt statt.[1]
Zunächst war Cartagena in Kolumbien als Austragungsort vorgesehen, jedoch musste man aus finanziellen Gründen von der Austragung zurücktreten. Guatemala-Stadt bot sich als Ersatz an, zog sich jedoch schließlich 1989 ebenfalls zurück, sodass Mexiko-Stadt nur kurzfristig als Ersatzveranstalter einspringen konnte.
Erfolgreichste Nation war wie in der Vergangenheit bereits so oft Kuba, dessen Sportler mit 180 Goldmedaillen in insgesamt 361 Wettbewerben quasi die Hälfte aller Entscheidungen gewann. Mexiko nahm mit 114 Goldmedaillen den zweiten Rang im Medaillenspiegel ein, vor Puerto Rico mit 21 Goldmedaillen.
Teilnehmende Nationen
29 Länder nahmen mit insgesamt 4206 Athleten an den Zentralamerika- und Karibikspielen teil.[2] Aruba und St. Vincent und die Grenadinen gaben ihr Debüt.
Sportarten
Bei den Zentralamerika- und Karibikspielen waren 30 Sportarten im Programm.[3] Bowling wurde wieder ins Programm aufgenommen, während Kanu, Badminton, Racquetball und Taekwondo erstmals ausgetragen wurden.

Die dominikanische Flagge wurde von Juan Pablo Duarte, dem Vater der nationalen Unabhängigkeit der Dominikanischen Republik, entworfen. Die erste dominikanische Flagge wurde von einer jungen Dame namens Concepción Bona genäht, die in der Nacht des 27. Februar 1844 gegenüber der Straße von El Baluarte, dem Denkmal, an dem sich die Patrioten versammelten, um für die Unabhängigkeit zu kämpfen, wohnte. Concepción Bona wurde von ihrer Cousine ersten Grades unterstützt Maria de Jesús Pina.

This is the flag of the Cayman Islands, prior to 1999 (It seems this version is still in use). The base pattern is from HK Blue Ensign and the arms are from the blue ensign. The FOTW was used for the position of the arms.
The three stars mean Grand Cayman(76miles), Cayman Brac(14miles), and Little Cayman(10miles).
