Die Linie L bzw. 14th Street – Canarsie Local ist eine U-Bahn-Linie der New York City Subway, die 24/7 zwischen der 8th Avenue in Manhattan und Canarsie in Brooklyn über die gesamte Länge der BMT Canarsie Line fährt. Das Zeichen der Linie ist in den Stationen und auf dem offiziellen U-Bahn-Plan hellgrau, die Kennfarbe der BMT Canarsie Line. Sie verkehrt immer als Local, da keine Express-Gleise vorhanden sind.
Sie ist die einzige Linie, die die BMT Canarsie Line befährt, die damit eine der wenigen Strecken ist, auf denen linienrein gefahren wird. Deshalb wird sie oft als Versuchskaninchen für neue Techniken benutzt, wie z. B. OPTO (One Person Train Operation), Anzeigetafeln mit Wartezeiten in Echtzeit oder CBTC (Computer Based Train Control).

Drohender „Shutdown“ bei Sanierung der Schäden durch Hurrikan Sandy
Im Jahr 2012 wurde der Tunnel durch Hurrikan Sandy geflutet und schwer beschädigt. Ursprünglich war geplant, die beschädigten Kabel und Kabelschächte ab Frühjahr 2019 vollständig zu sanieren. Dafür sollte die Strecke für 15 Monate gesperrt werden, was zum Unmut vieler New Yorker führte, da die Strecke täglich von ca. 400.000 Menschen genutzt wird. Anfang Januar 2019 gab der Gouverneur von New York Andrew Cuomo bekannt, dass ein Alternativplan entwickelt wurde, der es erlaubt, dass die Strecke nur Nachts und an den Wochenenden gesperrt wird. Dieser Plan sieht eine Verlegung der Kabel und eine teilweise Sanierung der Kabelschächte vor. Sensoren sollen die Integrität der Kabelschächte überwachen.[1][2]
