Die Linie 2 bzw. Seventh Avenue Express ist eine U-Bahn-Linie der New York City Subway. Das Zeichen ist in den Stationen und auf dem offiziellen U-Bahn-Plan tomatenrot, da sie durch Manhattan die IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line benutzt.
Die 2 verkehrt 24/7 zwischen der 241st Street in Wakefield, der Bronx und der Halte Flatbush Avenue – Brooklyn College in Midwood/Brooklyn. Tagsüber verkehrt die 2 in Manhattan als Express d. h. sieht hält nur an wichtigen Halten[1]; spät in die Nacht verkehrt sie als Local.
Die Strecke verläuft über die IRT White Plains Road Line in der Bronx, über die IRT Lenox Avenue Line und der IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line in Manhattan und auf der IRT Eastern Parkway Line und der IRT Nostrand Avenue Line in Brooklyn. Die 2 ist die längste IRT-Linie im U-Bahn-Netz.
Zeitweise verkehrten in der Hauptverkehrszeit auch Züge zur New Lots Ave in Brooklyn, da in der HVZ auf der IRT Nostrand Avenue Line zwischen Franklin Ave und Flatbush Ave bereits genug Züge verkehren (siehe 5).
