Steeple Aston
Steeple Aston ist ein Dorf oberhalb des Tals des Flusses Cherwell in Oxfordshire, England, etwa 11 km (7 Meilen) westlich von Bicester und 16 km (10 Meilen) südlich von Banbury.
Kirche
Die Kirche aus dem 13. Jahrhundert mit Erweiterungen im Perpendicular Style ist den Heiligen Peter und Paul gewidmet.
Pub
Steeple Aston hat einen Pub, The Red Lion der Hook Norton Brewery, der 1903 eröffnet wurde.[1] Früher gab es darüber hinaus The White Lion der 1870 eröffnet wurde. Außerdem gibt es The Holt Hotel am Rand der Gemeinde an der A4260 etwa 1½ km südlich des Dorfes.
Sport
Der Steeple Aston Cricket Club ist bekannt dafür, etwa ⅔ aller Austragungen zu gewinnen.

Steeple Aston liegt östlich der A4260 von Banbury nach Oxford. Mit Bicester ist es im Osten über die B4030 verbunden. Etwa 1½ km südöstlich des Dorfes liegt der Bahnhof Heyford mit Zügen nach Banbury, Oxford und Birmingham. Am Rand des Dorfes gibt es die Beeches Light Railway, eine private Schmalspurbahn des ehemaligen Direktors eines Eisenbahnunternehmens Adrian Shooter.

Steeple Aston
Original home of the "Steeple Aston Cope". The medieval cope or cloak, embroidered with gold and silver thread on silk twill, is now in the V & A Museum. It had been in the village for centuries until discovered hidden away in a chest in the 19th. century. Beeches Light Railway - interesting vehicle. The site's owner saw a photograph of a device like this being used on an American railroad and had his own replica built using a genuine Ford Model T. This includes a jacking system that will lift the wheels free of the rails and allow it to be rotated on its axis in order to go the other way round. This was carrying passengers during the lunch break.

St. Peter & St. Paul Church, Steeple Aston. The age and origins of Steeple Aston church are unknown. The first record is of a rector, Henry de Estone, being here between 1180 and 1193. The church seen today is not built all of one piece but has grown by successive alterations and additions over the centuries.
